Homework

Children will receive homework on Punctuation/Grammar and Maths every Wednesday, which is due in on Monday mornings.

Reading

Please support your child in encouraging them to read as often as possible, recording their own reading in their Reading Log book, this includes newspapers/comics.

PE

PE will be on Wednesdays.  Please ensure PE kit remains in school from Monday to Friday every week and that children have the correct school PE kit of white T shirt, dark bottoms and a pair of trainers, as extra sessions or changes in days may occur.

Spellings

We are continuing with our spelling scheme: ‘Read Write Inc.’

To support their learning of spellings, the children will be given a spelling books to practise their spellings for the week: it should be brought to school each Monday to stick in the new weekly spelling grid, then returned home to practise spellings at home each night.  Each book will have a grid where children can practise their spellings using a 'look, cover, write, check' method.  On Friday they will receive a test on a random selection of these words and 2 words from the year 5/6 spelling list. Take time to look at this list and check understanding of the words.  Please encourage your child to bring their 'Home spelling book' home every Monday and to practise their spellings each evening using the 'look, cover, write, check method.'

PSHE

Truth and Empathy are the focus values this term.

Topic Work

Our topic this term is Rivers and much of our work will be linked to this: bridges in DT; looking at the work of Monet in art and design; compositions based on the journey of a river in music.

Please feel free to pop in and see me if you have any questions.
