Welcome to Class 1- Miss Marsh
Hello and welcome to Class 1's web-page.
There is lots of exciting learning planned for this Summer 2nd Half Term. Our topic work is linked to Geography, thinking about Our Wonderful World and learning about the continents and oceans. We will be looking at some Summer Poetry and Recount and Instruction writing too. For more detail about our curriculum plans for this term please see our subject overview below.
Keep an eye on our Twitter feed @mwpsclass1 to see what we are getting up to!
Feel free to talk to me about any questions or concerns you have. I am happy to talk over the phone or after school.
Some Useful Information for Class 1
Homework will go out on a Friday, to be completed and returned to school by the following Friday. Expect lots of stickers, smiley faces and house-points for completing your homework!
Maths is fun! We will be following the Teaching for Mastery approach, which I believe helps all children to make progress. By the end of this year the children need to be confident with their number facts within 10 and also counting in 10s, 2s and 5s, so please help your little one by practising at home as much as you can!
We will be using The Write Stuff to help progress our writing. We use the FANTASTICs to help us write and use some amazing vocabulary! We have some exciting writing topics in store to inspire our budding authors!
We will be guided reading in groups with an adult. It would be great if you could also listen or read to your child at home every day too.
Phonics & Spellings
Phonics will be taught daily. We will be starting with Phase 5 Letters and Sounds. We link our spellings with our phonic sounds for the week. Spellings will be sent home and will be tested every Friday morning.Try to practise as many times as you can.
We will be wondering down to the woods on a Monday afternoon, so please send your child in with forest school kit. Plenty of layers, waterproofs and wellies will be needed!
Please ensure that PE kits are in school for sporting activities with Mr Hulme on a Friday.
