Welcome to Class 2 Miss Turner's Class
Hello and welcome to Class 2's web-page.
We have lots planned for this Autumn term and we are starting our school year focusing on the topic of Significant Individuals. This history topic will link in with National Space week during October and after half term we will find out about Florence Nightingale. Where appropriate we will link this topic to other subjects across the curriculum. For more detail about our curriculum plans for this term please see our subject overview.
Do keep an eye on our Twitter feed @mwpsclass2 to see what we are getting up to!
Please do feel free to talk to us about any questions or concerns you have. We are happy to talk over the phone or make an appointment after school.
Some Useful Information for Class 2
Please make sure that reading books and records are brought into school every day. Children need to read regularly to an adult for about 10 minutes each school night where possible. Please see the section in here titled ‘Top Tips for the Reading Helper’ for some ideas of questions to ask and things to discuss when reading with your child.
Spellings will be given out every Friday; your child will have a short spelling test within their spelling session and then they will be given new words which link in with the teaching for the following week. Phonics remain a crucial part of your child’s reading and spelling development, a handy guide to them can be found in the middle pages of this reading record.
Number Facts Homework
Key number facts will be given out on a Friday and this will come home in the same book as your child’s spellings. Please support your child with learning the number facts so they can recall them mentally. These facts will also be covered during lessons.
PE & Wellies in the Woods
Named PE kit needs to be in school every day in a named bag on your child’s coat peg. We will go to the forest in the school grounds on a Tuesday, please ensure your child has appropriate clothing and wellies (which can be kept in school on the rack during term time) in order to be able to take part.
