Welcome to Class 3 - The teachers are Mrs Wright (Mon-Weds) and Mrs Ball (Thurs-Fri); Miss Wells is our full-time Teaching Assistant.

Class Information

Hello and welcome to Class 3's web-page.

We have lots planned for this Spring term and are excited to get stuck in to our new topic - Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.  This history focus will link to other subjects across the curriculum, such as English and Art.  For more detail about our curriculum plans for this term, please see our subject overview.

Do keep an eye on our  Twitter feed @mwpsclass3 to see what we are getting up to - we would love some more followers!

Please do feel free to talk to us about any questions or concerns you have.  We are happy to talk over the phone or make an appointment after school.

Many thanks,

Mrs Wright and Mrs Ball

Some Useful Information for Class 3

Homework

We will be handing out homework on a Friday.  This will consist of a set of key number facts which will be embedded in our teaching; also spellings which will be tested on Friday mornings.  These will be in Green homework books and also on our Twitter feed.

Maths

We LOVE maths and follow the Teaching for Mastery approach, which we believe helps all children to make progress and enjoy the subject.

By the end of this year the children need to be confident in their 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 12 times tables - please help them to practise at home as much as you can.  The children all have Times Tables Rock Stars accounts, which they have been given a username and password for.  Thank you.

Writing

We are using The Write Stuff to accelerate progress in writing and have some exciting writing topics in store to inspire our class of writers.

Reading

Children should be reading either independently or with someone at home every day.  Guided reading in class will be in groups with the class teacher / teaching assistant.

Spellings

We use the 'Read, Write, Inc.' spelling scheme.  Weekly spellings will be sent home and will be tested every Friday morning.

PE

Please ensure that named PE kits are in school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday.  Please remember trainers as we do like to get outside whenever possible!  Please ensure long hair is tied up for PE and earrings removed / tape provided.
