Welcome to Mrs Eaton's class - Year 3!

Welcome to Mrs Eaton's class - Year 3!

I hope you are feeling well and are ready to get back into school life again!  Things will seem a bit different but lots of things are still the same!

This term we are doing Super Shropshire and comparing it to other places.  We will be looking at all the countries that make up the UK as well as lots of the counties and cities that are in the different parts of England.  We will also be looking at mountains and rivers.

We will be looking at the poem, The Magic Box, and rewriting a similar poem to this.  We will also be writing Brer Rabbit Stories as well as lots of other exciting bits of writing.  Have a look at the plan attached below to see what else we are doing.

In Science we are studying Rocks this half term and Animals including humans next half term.

Our PSHE for this term is Honesty and Empathy.

PE will take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, so please make sure children have their kit (white top, dark bottoms and trainers) for those days.  Children will get changed in school then go home in their PE kit with uniforms neatly placed in their school bags!

Please try to hear your child read as often as possible and record this in their reading journals.  Please remind children to bring these back to school each day.

Spellings and Maths homework

  • Each week, spellings will be given out on a Friday and stuck in a red homework book, which will also house number facts homework.
  • Weekly spellings will continue to be typed into a spelling grid as before.
  • There will be 8 spellings: 6 on the current pattern children are working on and 2 catch up spellings from the previous year’s spellings that were given out during lockdown.
  • Some children will have slightly different spellings to suit their needs.
  • Spelling tests and a test on the number facts given out for that week will take place on a Friday in the back of the homework book – this will need to be brought into school for a Friday to complete the spelling and number facts test and to receive new homework.
  • If any children forget to bring this book in, we will test them on a piece of paper and send this home, usually inside the child’s reading record.
  • Please remind children to bring their red book in to school on Friday morning and check they have it when you greet them after school on Friday so they are ready for the next week’s home work! I will endeavour to do this as I always do!

Many thanks for all your support.
