Welcome to Class 3 Class Teacher Miss Curtis
Class Teacher: Mrs Curtis
Hello all and welcome back to our last half term of the year!
We have lots planned for this half term and expect it to be a busy one so do keep an eye on our new Twitter feed @mwpsclass3 to see what we are getting up to!
Homework this half term will all be about maths and getting our Times Tables perfect before we move up to Year 4! By the end of this year the children need to be confident in their 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Times Tables Rockstars is all set up to help them so please do encourage them to use that as often as possible. Another free app you could try is Hit The Button, we play this in class sometimes and it helps to keep them engaged!
Children should be reading either independently or with someone at home every day. To encourage this, June will be our Ready Steady Read month when children can log the minutes they are reading and be in with a chance to win a prize. We also want to see pictures of the children reading in strange places for our Extreme Read competition.
PE this half term will be based around the Olympics and exploring some of the games as part of our Ancient Greece topic. Named PE kits should be in school on a Monday. Please remember trainers as we do like to get outside whenever possible!
We are coming to the end of our 'Read, Write, Inc.' spelling scheme so will use this term to consolidate what we have learnt so far. Spellings will be based on the Year 3/4 tricky words and will be tested every Friday morning. I am also encouraging children use these tricky spellings in their writing wherever possible this term.
This term we are looking at Ancient Greeks. We have already learnt about the different civilizations, how they lived and how different their school life was to our schools today, as well as writing a newspaper report about the Trojan Horse. We will now be looking at myths, Gods and Heroes, and making clay pots.
